Our mission is to research, develop, and broadly disseminate effective counseling and teaching methods to resolve academic problems associated with dyslexia and other learning differences, including autism.
Our past focus has been to address early education interventions for preventing dyslexia. We funded and supported public school programs which provided parent education, teacher training, consultations, and materials to pilot, test and implement dyslexia prevention and correction methods. The results of these pilots and subsequent research were published in the peer-reviewed journal, Reading Improvement, in 2001.
By funding such efforts, we supported effective teacher training programs throughout the world, in order to reach potentially dyslexic children before they develop identifiable difficulties.
Current DRF goals are to provide funds for researching effective programs for helping autistic children and adults develop and improve language and social skills.
